Why Zelencio Checks Your Location When You Sign In
Published 18 October 2026
When you sign in to the latest Zelencio app, you will be asked to allow location access and to switch location on. Here is exactly why, and what we do and do not do with it.
The problem it solves
Most account takeovers start with a stolen password or a SIM swap. The attacker signs in from a different device, in a different place. A password alone cannot tell the difference between you and them. Your location can.
How the check works
At the moment you sign in, the app reads your device location once and compares it with the location of your network connection. If the two disagree badly, if the login comes from a country we cannot serve, or if it looks impossible (Lagos at 10:00 and London at 10:05), the sign-in is stopped or sent for extra checks, and you get an alert.
What we do not do
- We do not track you in the background.
- We do not follow your location while you use the app.
- We do not share or sell location data for advertising.
The sign-in location is stored with your security log, the same place we keep your login times and devices, so you and our security team can review suspicious activity. Full details are in Section 1 of our Privacy Policy.
What if I say no?
The check is part of how we protect your funds, so sign-in in the app will not complete with location switched off. You can turn location back off as soon as you are signed in. The check only runs again at your next sign-in.
It costs you one tap. For an attacker holding your password, it is a wall.
